Which subjects to choose?

Our older students can choose 3 A-levels subjects based on the University degree they wish to pursue. Our experienced university admission consultants will assist students in making the right choice of 3 A-level subjects, taking into account their future plans for higher education.

IGCSE Level

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is designed for students aged 14-16. It is the first step in the Cambridge program and serves as an excellent foundation for higher-level qualifications such as AS and A Levels.

  • Core Subjects: A wide variety of subjects including Mathematics, English, Sciences, Business, and the Arts.
  • Assessment: Primarily exam-based, with some coursework components, focusing on a global perspective and critical thinking.
  • University Pathway: An important qualification for students aiming to progress to A Levels and then university.
O Level

The Ordinary Level (O Level) is equivalent to the IGCSE and is offered to students aged 14-16. This program is more suited to certain regions that follow the British educational system.

  • Core Subjects: Similar to IGCSE, including a range of disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Languages.
  • Assessment: Primarily examination-based, ensuring students have mastered foundational concepts in each subject.
  • University Pathway: Provides a stepping stone to more advanced studies in AS and A Levels.
AS Level

The Advanced Subsidiary (AS Level) is typically taken by students aged 16-18, following their IGCSE/O Level studies. It represents the first half of the full A Level qualification and can be a standalone certification or a stepping stone to the full A Level.

  • Core Subjects: Offers a wide range of subjects, from Sciences to Humanities, with an in-depth focus on critical analysis.
  • Assessment: Exam-based, covering more specialized topics than IGCSE/O Level, with more academic rigor.
  • University Pathway: AS Levels are highly regarded by universities and may be used in university applications alongside A Levels.
A Level

The Advanced Level (A Level) is a two-year program for students aged 16-18 and represents the pinnacle of secondary education. It is the full qualification following AS Level and is required for university entrance in many countries.

  • Core Subjects: Students typically choose 3-4 subjects, which are studied in depth, with options including Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, Humanities, and Arts.
  • Assessment: Exam-focused with some coursework components, A Levels are recognized globally for their academic rigor.
  • University Pathway: A Levels are essential qualifications for entry to top universities worldwide and are often a requirement for specific degree programs.
